About Sodium Carboxymethyl Chitosan Lauramide

Sodium Carboxymethyl Chitosan Lauramide is the sodium salt of the product obtained by reacting chitosan with lauric acid anhydride and chloroacetic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, reduce tangling and rough texture in hair for a smoother, more manageable finish, and leave the skin surface soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
