About Sesquiethoxytriethanolamine
Sesquiethoxytriethanolamine is obtained by reacting ammonia with ethylene oxide and consists mainly of triethanolamine and hydroxyethoxyethyldiethanolamine. It is volatile, helping formulas spread lightly and dry quickly, and is used to dissolve other ingredients or create a fresh skin feel.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to buffer the formula so its acidity does not change abruptly, to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to help prevent the emulsified water-and-oil state from separating easily.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
