Sd Alcohol 39-D is ethyl alcohol denatured with bay oil and either quinine sulfate or sodium salicylate, in accordance with 27CFR21.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to provide a temporarily tightening, astringent sensation on the skin or scalp, dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formula, and adjust the viscosity and flow of the formula.[2]
