About Ricinoleamide DEA

Ricinoleamide DEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of ricinoleic acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, increase the amount of foam and help keep it from collapsing easily, and lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] It is also used to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formula.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
