About Quassin
Quassin is a bitter alkaloid obtained from the wood of quassia and is mainly used as a denaturant for ethyl alcohol.[1] Its properties and feel in the finished product may vary depending on the formulation concentration, the ingredients used with it, the formulation's acidity, and manufacturing conditions. In cosmetics, it is used to alter the taste or odor of raw materials to make them difficult to ingest.[2]
