About Polyurethane-21
Polyurethane-21 is a urethane copolymer obtained by reacting isophorone diisocyanate with the polyester of hexanedioic acid, isophthalic acid, and 1,6-hexanediol, dimethylolpropionic acid, and ethylenediamine, followed by neutralization with triethylamine.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to form a thin film on the surface of the skin, hair, and nails after application.[3] In Europe, the maximum concentration is 2.5% in leave-on products, while no separate maximum concentration is specified for rinse-off products. Nitrosamines must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
