About Polyquaternium-29
Polyquaternium-29 is a polymerized quaternary ammonium salt of chitosan reacted with propylene oxide and substituted with epichlorohydrin.[1] The number 29 after Polyquaternium is only an identifying number distinguishing different Polyquaterniums; it does not indicate the content or molecular size. Its positively charged portions are used to reduce static in hair and leave a thin film. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, and to form a thin film on the surface of skin, hair, and nails after application.[2]
