About Pinus Sylvestris Oil

Pinus Sylvestris Oil is a fixed oil (nonvolatile oil) obtained from the cones of Scots pine.[1] Because it consists primarily of fatty components obtained from Scots pine, it mixes better with oils than with water and is suitable for adding slip and a supple feel to the skin or hair while reducing the sensation of moisture evaporating quickly. In cosmetics, it is used to keep the ingredient’s characteristic odor or taste from becoming overly prominent and to add fragrance to products or adjust the ingredient’s characteristic odor.[4] In Korea, oils and extracts from leaves and twigs cannot be used in cosmetics when their peroxide value exceeds 10 mmol/L.[2] In Europe, only ingredients with a peroxide value below 10 mmol/L may be used.[3]
