About Phenoxyisopropanol
Phenoxyisopropanol is an ether alcohol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in a product, delaying spoilage during storage, and to dissolve other ingredients so they mix evenly into the formula.[4] In South Korea, it may be used at up to 1.0% only in rinse-off products and cannot be used in other products.[2] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it is permitted at up to 1.0% in rinse-off products. When used for purposes other than preservation, it may be used at up to 2.0% in rinse-off products other than oral products.[3]
