About PEG-65 Butylene Glycol Isostearate
PEG-65 Butylene Glycol Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of butylene glycol isostearate containing an average of 65 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 65 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. For the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility as well as the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
