About PEG-50 Stearamine
PEG-50 Stearamine is a polyethylene glycol derivative of stearylamine.[1] The number 50 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formula. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
