About PEG-50 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Succinate

PEG-50 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Succinate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of the succinic acid ester of hydrogenated castor oil to which an average of 50 moles of ethylene oxide has been added.[1] The number 50 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to control the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
