About PEG-5 Hydrogenated Lanolin

PEG-5 Hydrogenated Lanolin is a polyethylene glycol derivative of hydrogenated lanolin containing an average of 5 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 5 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; for the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended.[2]
