About PEG-42 Mushroom Glycerides

PEG-42 Mushroom Glycerides are polyethylene glycol derivatives of the mono- and diglycerides of mushroom oil, with an average of 42 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 42 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, they are used to reduce friction on the skin or hair, add a smooth feel, and create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
