About PEG-40 Hydrogenated Dimer Dilinoleate
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Dimer Dilinoleate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of hydrogenated dimer dilinoleic acid containing an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 40 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number may alter water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
