About PEG-4 Dicocoate

PEG-4 Dicocoate is the polyethylene glycol diester of coconut acid, and n is an average of 4; coconut acid is a fatty acid derived from coconut oil.[1] The number 4 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; for the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
