About PEG-200 Trihydroxystearin
PEG-200 Trihydroxystearin is a polyethylene glycol derivative of trihydroxystearin with an average of 200 moles of ethylene oxide added.[1] The number 200 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. For the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
