About PEG-16 Castor Oil
PEG-16 Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor seed oil with an average of 16 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 16 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; with the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formula. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on the skin or hair, add a smooth feel, and create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly combined.[2]
