About PEG-150 Distearate

PEG-150 Distearate is a polyethylene glycol diester of lauric acid.[1] The number 150 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changes in this number may affect water miscibility as well as the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to adjust the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[2]
