About PEG-15 Butylene Glycol Diisostearate
PEG-15 Butylene Glycol Diisostearate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of the diester of butylene glycol and isostearic acid, with an average of 15 moles of ethylene oxide added.[1] The number 15 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. Within the same base structure, changing this number may alter water compatibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to make emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
