About PEG-12 Cocamine

PEG-12 Cocamine is a polyethylene glycol derivative of cocamine.[1] The number 12 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities rinse away with water, to make emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so that ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
