About PEG-100 Castor Oil
PEG-100 Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor oil containing an average of 100 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 100 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number can alter water dispersibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to reduce surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
