About PEG-10 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Isostearate

PEG-10 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol derivative formed by adding 10 moles of ethylene oxide to the ester of hydrogenated castor oil and isostearic acid.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility as well as the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to control the formulation's viscosity and flow.[2]
