About PEG-10 Butylene Glycol Isostearate

PEG-10 Butylene Glycol Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of Butylene Glycol Isostearate with an average of 10 moles of ethylene oxide added.[1] The number 10 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; for the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
