About Pectin

Pectin is a purified carbohydrate obtained by extracting the inner portion of citrus peels or the pomace left after pressing apple juice with dilute acid.[1] It consists mainly of methoxylated polygalacturonic acid and is used in cosmetics to help ingredients in a formulation bind together and maintain its form, keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and control formulation viscosity and flow.[2]
