About Microcrystalline Wax

Microcrystalline Wax is a petroleum-derived wax characterized by fine crystals, unlike the large crystals of paraffin wax; because it is primarily composed of fatty components obtained from the starting material, it mixes better with oil than with water.[1] It is suitable for adding slip and a supple feel to skin or hair while reducing the feeling of moisture evaporating quickly. In cosmetics, it is used to help ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its shape, increase the formula's volume and control the amount of solids, and keep water-and-oil emulsions from separating easily.[2] It is also used to control the viscosity and flow of the formula.[2]
