About Microcrystalline Cellulose

Microcrystalline Cellulose is the separated, colloidal crystalline portion of cellulose fibers.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to absorb liquids in the formulation, such as water or oil; help powder ingredients flow evenly without clumping; increase formulation volume and adjust the amount of solids; prevent easy separation of emulsions containing water and oil; reduce light transmission so the contents appear less translucent; and help keep the formulation’s state and properties from changing easily during storage.[2] It is also used to control the viscosity and flow of the formulation.[2] [2]
