About Methoxy PEG-114/Polyepsilon Caprolactone
Methoxy PEG-114/Polyepsilon Caprolactone is a block copolymer.[1] The number 114 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changing this number can also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to buffer against sudden changes in formulation acidity, form a thin film on the skin, hair, or nail surface after application, and smooth hair by reducing tangling and rough feel.[3] In Europe, diethylene glycol remaining as an impurity in the ingredient must be controlled at 0.1% or less.[2]
