About Mea-PPG-8-Steareth-7 Carboxylate

MEA-PPG-8-Steareth-7 Carboxylate is the monoethanolamine salt of a carboxylic acid.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units and changes the balance between water-attracting and fat-attracting portions, resulting in differences in cleansing ability, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to create an emulsion in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
