About Lecithin

Lecithin is a naturally occurring mixture of diglycerides of stearic acid, palmitic acid, and oleic acid, bound to a choline ester of phosphoric acid, and found in living plants and animals. It has both water-loving and oil-loving parts and acts at the interface between the two phases; it is used for the identified formulation purpose among cleansing, emulsifying, and hair grooming.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2] It is also used to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
