About Lauryl Dimethicone PEG-15 Crosspolymer

Lauryl Dimethicone PEG-15 Crosspolymer is a crosspolymer formed from PEG-15 and lauryl dimethicone.[1] The number 15 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number may also change its miscibility with water and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to control formulation viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, diethylene glycol remaining as an impurity in the ingredient must be controlled at 0.1% or less.[2]
