About Laureth-7
Laureth-7 is a polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol with an average n of 7.[1] The number 7 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units. It changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing and emulsifying power and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
