About Laureth-15
Laureth-15 is the polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with an average n value of 15.[1] The number 15 at the end of the name refers to the average number of added ethylene oxide units; it changes the balance between the water-loving and fat-loving parts, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and sensory feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so raw materials can become wetted, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
