About Laureth-11
Laureth-11 is the polyethylene glycol ether of lauryl alcohol, with an average n value of 11.[1] The number 11 at the end of the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. This changes the balance between the water-loving and oil-loving portions, resulting in differences in cleansing power, emulsifying ability, and skin feel. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to reduce surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
