About Lauramide/Myristamide DEA
Lauramide/Myristamide DEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of a mixture of lauric and myristic acids.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or stick together, increase the amount of foam and help it remain stable, and reduce surface tension so that ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[3] It is also used to control the viscosity and flow of formulations.[3] It mainly has the following structure: lauric/myristic acid radicals.[1] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[2]
