About Dihydroxyethyl Cocamine Oxide

Dihydroxyethyl Cocamine Oxide is a tertiary amine oxide.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to reduce static electricity that causes hair strands to lift or cling together, help sebum and impurities wash away with water, and help keep emulsions of water and oil from separating easily.[2] It is also used to increase foam volume and stability, reduce tangling and roughness in hair for a softer finish, and help poorly water-soluble ingredients disperse more evenly in the water phase.[2] It is used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
