About Cornamide/Cocamide DEA

Cornamide/Cocamide DEA is the diethanolamide of a mixture of fatty acids obtained from corn oil and coconut acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to increase the amount of foam and help keep it from collapsing easily, lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and adjust the viscosity and flow of the formula.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must also be no more than 50 μg/kg.[2]
