About Corn Oil PEG-6 Esters
Corn Oil PEG-6 Esters are a complex mixture formed by the transesterification of corn oil and PEG-6.[1] The number 6 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. Within the same base structure, changing this number may affect water dispersibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formula. In cosmetics, they are used to reduce friction on the skin or hair and add a smooth feel, create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and leave the skin surface soft and smooth.[2] They are also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, blend, and spread evenly.[2]
