About Cocamide DEA

Cocamide DEA is a mixture of ethanolamides of coconut acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed; to help prevent the emulsified state of water and oil from separating easily; and to increase the amount of foam and help it persist. It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to adjust the formula's viscosity and flow.[3] In Europe, the secondary amine content of the finished product is limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and nitrosamine content must also be no higher than 50 μg/kg.[2] [3]
