About Bis-(Methyl Epoxidized Soyate) PEG-32

Bis-(Methyl Epoxidized Soyate) PEG-32 is an ester that combines portions derived from an acid and an alcohol.[1] The number 32 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. For the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly; increase the amount of foam and help keep it from collapsing easily; and help ingredients that do not dissolve well in water disperse more evenly in the water phase.[1] It is also used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water and to keep solid particles or droplets evenly dispersed instead of clumping together.[1]
