About Bis-Isobutyl PEG-14/Amodimethicone Copolymer
Bis-Isobutyl PEG-14/Amodimethicone Copolymer is a silicone polymer in which R represents part of isobutyl.[1] The number 14 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same basic structure, changes in this number may also affect water compatibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce tangling and roughness in hair, leaving it smooth and well-groomed, and to help hold the desired hair shape in place.[3] In Europe, diethylene glycol remaining as an impurity in the ingredient must be controlled at no more than 0.1%.[2]
