About Ammonia

Ammonia is an inorganic gas.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to buffer the formula so its acidity does not change rapidly and to prevent the characteristic odor or taste of raw materials from becoming overly noticeable.[3] In Europe, it may be used at up to 6% based on ammonia content. If it exceeds 2%, labeling indicating that ammonia is present is required.[2]
