About Abies Balsamea Needle Oil
Abies Balsamea Needle Oil is a volatile oil obtained from the needles of balsam fir.[1] The volatile components obtained from balsam fir needles contribute to the first impression of the fragrance and the lingering scent after application, and tend to evaporate more lightly than ordinary vegetable oils. In cosmetics, it is used to prevent the ingredient’s characteristic odor or taste from standing out excessively and to add fragrance to a product or adjust the characteristic odor of raw materials.[4] In South Korea, it cannot be used in cosmetics when it is an oil or extract from needles with a peroxide value exceeding 10 mmol/L.[2] In Europe, only raw materials with a peroxide value below 10 mmol/L may be used.[3]
